The internet claims Tucker Carson’s wealth is 20 Million dollars of 2023. This makes no sense. Lets review:

In 1979, Tucker Carlson’s father married Patricia Caroline Swanson, who was an heiress to Swanson Enterprises, which was founded by her family. However, by the time of the marriage, the Swansons had already sold the Swanson Enterprises brand to Campbell Soup Company in 1955 and did not own it at the time of the marriage.

Swanson Enterprises was a frozen-food company that was founded in the 1950s and became well-known for its TV dinners. The company was founded by Gilbert Carl Swanson, and his daughter, Patricia Caroline Swanson, inherited a portion of the family fortune when her father passed away.

The wealth at one time was in the millions of dollars, and in modern dollars far more.

We do not know how much Tucker gained from this marriage of course, and it may have been close to nothing other than schooling and personal toys such as cars and what not.

Regardless we can infer he left off in a decent financial position without debt when starting work and potentially far more.

The exact size of Patricia Caroline Swanson’s inheritance is not publicly known. However, it is worth noting that the Swanson family was extremely wealthy due to the success of Swanson Enterprises and other business ventures, and Patricia Caroline Swanson would likely have inherited a significant portion of that wealth. Additionally, Swanson family members have been known for their philanthropic activities, and Patricia Caroline Swanson has been involved in various charitable organisations and causes over the years.

Tucker Carlson began his career as a journalist in the 1990s and has worked for various news organizations, including CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News. He has hosted several shows on Fox News, including “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” which he has hosted since 2016.

According to reports, Tucker Carlson’s salary has increased significantly during his tenure at Fox News. In 2020, it was reported that he had signed a new contract with the network that pays him $10 million per year. It is not clear what his salary was in previous years, as salary information for news anchors and journalists is not always publicly disclosed.

Regardless, net income from 2020 to 2022 would be 20 million for those two years alone.

Based on available reports, it appears that Tucker Carlson’s salary has increased over time during his tenure at Fox News. Here are some reported figures:

  • In 2018, Carlson was reported to be earning around $4 million per year from his show on Fox News.
  • In 2019, Carlson was reported to be earning an estimated $6 million per year from his show on Fox News.
  • In 2020, it was reported that Carlson had signed a new contract with Fox News that pays him $10 million per year.

Adding these figures together gives a total estimated earnings of $20 million over the three-year period from 2018 to 2020.

Which gives us 40 Million total thus far.

At a minimum we can assume the Canadian average, which is known to be less than the USA average but in USA dollars.

The Canadian Data:

  • According to the Canadian Media Guild, a union that represents many CBC employees, the average salary for a CBC journalist in 2021 was $93,000 per year. However, this is just an average, and salaries can vary widely depending on various factors.
  • CBC has several categories of employees, including hosts, reporters, and producers. According to Glassdoor, a website that compiles salary information based on self-reported data, the average salary for a CBC host is approximately $93,000 per year, while the average salary for a CBC reporter is approximately $67,000 per year.
  • According to a CBC spokesperson cited in a 2018 article from The Globe and Mail, some of the highest-paid CBC employees are likely to be on-air personalities such as hosts, anchors, and correspondents. However, the spokesperson did not provide specific salary information.

But to be on the safe size let’s assume he only made 50K per year for from his reporting jobs, on average — more likely 10 times that. So for 25 or so years he made about 1.2 million at minimum. Perhaps much as 12 million.

On top of that he has other income:

Tucker Carlson is primarily known for his work as a journalist and television host, and his primary source of income is likely his salary from his show on Fox News. However, he may also earn additional income from other sources, such as:

  • Book deals: Tucker Carlson has written several books, including “Ship of Fools: How a Selfish Ruling Class Is Bringing America to the Brink of Revolution” and “The Long Slide: Thirty Years in American Journalism.” He may earn royalties and/or an advance for these books.
  • Speaking engagements: Tucker Carlson is a popular speaker and may earn income from giving speeches or participating in events.
  • Investments: It is possible that Carlson has made investments that generate income, although there is no public information about his investment portfolio.
  • Other media appearances: Tucker Carlson may make appearances on other television shows or in other media outlets, and he may earn income from these appearances.

At the minimum I say ½ a million from these other sources total and again, probably higher.

Then there are stocks, bonds and other investments. 20 million however you cut it seems to be half or even a quarter of his wealth.

Does anyone have any data to give a more correct answer?

PS

It is worth noting that salaries for news anchors and journalists can vary widely depending on a variety of factors, including the network, the show’s ratings, and the individual’s experience and level of expertise. Additionally, some news organisations may offer additional compensation in the form of bonuses, incentives, and other perks.
